Every now and then a couple arrive at the venue, and you know their wedding is going to be absolutely epic. From the gorgeous brides (who are now our friends for life!), to their wonderful guests, who really bought the party, this wedding was one we will remember for a long, long time! But let’s hand over to Alice and Lucy to give you the lowdown on their summer beachy bash.

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?

Hi! We are Alice and Lucy from Torquay in Devon. We met on a dating App called Bumble and immediately made a beeline for each other (see what we did there?!)

What influenced your decision to get married at Watermouth?

We were blown away with the picturesque location – having the best of both worlds with woodland and coastal areas. It really made the day memorable to our guests and of course created some fabulous photo opportunities. The team there were amazing, approachable, and unflappable, even when the Wi-Fi went down on the day (A BT fault in the area), they quickly found a solution and the day went ahead exactly as planned.

Tell us all about your big day

We chose navy and light blues for our florals (Twigs flowers absolutely smashed the brief!) and matching shades for our bridesmaids, to fit the coastal vibe. Alice chose a stunning dress from Brides at Waterfields and Lucy totally rocked her bridal jumpsuit from Browns of Totnes. Josh Micklewright at Palm Hair worked absolute alchemy in the glamroom alongside Emma Robert’s Makeup.

Our gorgeous flowers were supplied by Twigs Flowers, and the amazing Clare Saunders played sax for our drinks reception.

The weather was glorious, and our wedding took place up at The Viewpoint, so we had a gorgeous rugged coastal view as we exchanged our vows in front of family and friends. Becky Garland Photography took some incredible shots of the day – Becky and her husband Mike were amazing and made us feel so comfortable – highly recommended!

Any favourite moments?

It would be impossible to pick just one moment – it was 100% the best day ever from start to finish! One thing that we will remember with joy though, was our crazy bridesmaid busting out an S Club 7 classic at the end of her speech, which she had quietly arranged with the venue staff – one of the best kept secrets on the day!

What’s your top tip for getting married at Watermouth?

We have so many amazing memories but the one that really stands out is, our singer Melanie and Watermouth Cove staff organising a special intimate performance for just the two of us, before we went in for our meal. It honestly felt like something from a RomCom movie, and very emotional.

In the evening the legendary ‘Bar Babes’ at Watermouth joined in and got tattoos… and then joined us on the dance floor to bust some moves, we love you guys!
