Although our fabulous couples come from all over the UK (and further afield!), it’s always really special when we have two local lovebirds arrive at the venue for their big day. Lindzey and Paul were no exception…what a weekend we had celebrating with their gorgeous guests!
Choosing Watermouth Cove Weddings on the North Devon Coast as their venue, Linz and Paul tied the knot in a laid back celebration, full of joy and laughter, with friends and family.
We caught up with the happy couple to ask about their wedding and relive the magic that was their perfect endless summer celebration.
Tell us a bit about you…
Hi! We are Linz and Paul from Devon. We initially met online (like many busy couples!), finding that we had so much in common, and a shared love of North Devon… our relationship quickly blossomed into love. Paul is my best friend and soulmate, so to say our vows at Watermouth in front of our closest friends and family was a truly special moment we will never forget.
We really wanted a relaxed, no stress party vibe for the wedding, so choosing Watermouth Cove Weddings was perfect for us, as the team worked with us to create a unique wedding weekend that reflected us as a couple.
Did you have a wedding theme?
We chose navy and white as our colour theme, as we wanted a really classic combination. As an older couple we felt those colours were timeless, yet still fresh enough to give a modern and elegant twist to our décor and wedding attire.
Linz chose a stunning ballgown style dress from the popular local wedding dress boutique Frilly Frocks, whilst Paul opted for a sharp tailored look, in his suit from Hugo Boss.
Our table set up at the venue was already beautiful upon arrival the night before the wedding, with all of the cutlery and glassware laid out. We added our own personal touches, including some specially made iced cookies with our names on, which we gave out as wedding favours, plus simple clean blue and white florals from Sweet Williams that tied our whole scheme together. The finished look was breathtaking. Our beautiful cake was lovingly made by Slice ‘O Cake in Ilfracombe, and it perfectly complemented our theme. It was important to us to use as many local suppliers as possible.
What was your order of the day?
Our celebrations started the night before the wedding… we arrived at the venue on Friday afternoon and after unpacking and adding our personal touches to The Stonehouse we caught up with Zoe, Georgia, and Sam to run through the order of the day. It really helped us both relax, knowing that the girls had everything in hand and would be with us every step of the way on the big day! The evening was perfect, with a few of our closest family and friends, staying in the venue’s beautiful accommodation, having a chilled-out evening enjoying pizza and a drink by the sea. It really set the tone for a relaxed ceremony the next day, as we had already said most of our hello’s!
On the wedding morning my bridal crew headed off to The Glamroom, in the capable hands of Hair by Cassie Cornish (who really made us feel at ease and created stunning styles that lasted all day), and makeup by Laura Knight / Jo Kift.
Whilst we were busy enjoying being pampered, Paul was being a social butterfly in The Snug Bar, greeting our guests as they arrived, amid many excited smiles and hugs!
Our wedding took place at The Viewpoint, and I honestly cannot describe the moment I got to marry my best friend… Truly beautiful…
The incredible Lucy Harvey Sax not only played us down the aisle, but also performed at our drinks reception afterwards. Such a brilliant ice breaker, our guests adored her!
After our ceremony, our brilliant photographer Mike Wells took the most incredible confetti shots. In fact, receiving the image gallery after our wedding was wonderful, so many happy faces and special moments.
Your favourite moment of the day?
Apart from marrying Paul? It would have to be dancing the night away with all of my favourite people to the fantastic tunes being spun by Devon Pro Entertainment. Although watching our photographer Mike accidentally falling into the sea whilst trying to get the optimum shot will definitely come a close second! He really went the extra mile!
Do you have any top tips for getting married at Watermouth Cove Weddings that you can share?
We chose the venue not only for the stunning views, but also for the team there, whom we immediately felt at ease with. It was lovely to be able to relax and know that the team had everything covered, so that we could just enjoy every moment and soak up the memories. Let the girls do their thing, they have things 100% right… and we will be eternally grateful for the amazing time we had there.
