What a fabulous time we had celebrating with Matt and Hannah. We loved everything about their joyful wedding, from the pretty palette of soft blues to the epic walk into the Stonehouse with MC duties performed by the fathers (If those two gentlemen haven’t been snapped up by Ministry of Sound there’s no justice in the world! We will forever be envious of their dance moves!) We caught up with the happy couple to find out more about their big day.

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?

We are Matt and Hannah from Hertfordshire. We originally met when we were just sixteen years old, in East Banet Village. We have been together for seventeen years… so marriage was definitely on the cards!

What was your wedding vibe?

We wanted a beach destination, without having to ask our families to travel to a different country. Our plan from the get-go, was that we were going to relax, and really enjoy every moment… No stress, taking in the beautiful views of the cove, the palm trees by the heated pool, and the gorgeous décor. Watermouth Cove certainly makes you feel as though you are abroad, so it was the ideal backdrop for our celebrations.

Any other reasons you chose Watermouth Cove as your venue?

We had made a trip to Devon wedding venue hunting, and Watermouth was on our list of ‘must see venues.’  We messed up our dates for viewing and arrived at the venue on the wrong day at the wrong time! However, Zoe and Georgia happily welcomed us in anyway and we immediately fell in love with the venue and the team there. After a fantastic tour around the venue, whilst admiring the stunning views, we spotted a dolphin swimming in the cove. I was sold at this point!

Tell us all about your big day

We chose a colour palette of varying blues to tie in with the coastal theme, baby blue for the bridesmaids, and the groomsmen had a ‘Miami’ style, blue/grey suit, and beige trousers. Hannah wore a stunning white sweetheart neckline dress with a long veil.

Our love of sci-fi was showcased with Star Wars table names, and my cousin Mary and her business Wilde Hill provided the flower arrangements…  the tall white rose flower arch, all of my bridesmaid bouquets, and my bouquet of beautiful white roses. It really complimented the Watermouth aesthetic of rustic meets modern perfectly.

Even the pets onsite got their moment to shine, Benny the dog, who was dressed in a very dapper suit, really enjoyed his day!

Any supplier recommendations? Ela Walenda captured our day beautifully and really made us feel relaxed, the resulting shots were amazing. Cindy Beddard Hair worked her magic in the Glam Room, an absolute expert in her craft! I also adored our violinist, who played some of our favourite songs during the day.

Which spaces were used in the venue?

We used the pool and snug for a pool party on the night prior to the wedding, which was such a great ice breaker for our guests. The weather on the day was fabulous, so our ceremony took place up at the beautiful Viewpoint ceremony area. Our wedding breakfast and evening dancing took place in the Stonehouse. Our guests stayed onsite, and used the accommodation at the venue, which made the wedding so much less stressful.

Any favourite moments?

It’s impossible to pick a favourite, the entire day was a dream!

Top tips for getting married at Watermouth?

Just relax and enjoy it, trust Zoe and Georgia and the team, they really know what they are doing. Organisation is absolutely key in reducing stress. I organised boxes for each room and found that was really helpful when arriving on site. Try to stop, take a breather, and take in every special moment. The day itself flies by, and you will be wishing you could do it all over again.
