The bar for the coolest wedding was set incredibly high, when Megan and Chloe exchanged their vows at Watermouth Cove Weddings. From an incredible West End singer, to a tattooist duo offering badass wedding tattoos… this couple hit all the right notes when it came to fun and unusual additions to their big day. We caught up with the happy couple to find out more about their epic wedding.
Can you tell us a little about yourselves?
We are Megan and Chloe from Hertfordshire. We met on an online dating site on Boxing day 2016, we both swiped right! A month later we met up as friends for a meal and cinema date… suffice to say we have been inseparable since then!
What made you choose Watermouth as your wedding location?
We initially spotted Watermouth online, and immediately knew it was the perfect venue for us, just from the gorgeous photos. The team had a 9am slot available for a viewing on our next free day off, so we booked to go and have a look around. The night before we literally got so excited that we left in the middle of the night and camped in the car! It was so worth it!
The views and the staff were pure magic. As soon as we arrived we knew this was where we were going to get married.
What was your wedding vibe?
We both wanted a really fun and relaxed wedding with our closest friends and family; concentrating on bringing lots of joy and love to our special wedding crew. We both adore colour, so our palette was an eclectic mix of turquoise, teal and dusky pinks.
Megan’s stunning dress was from Lottie Lew Bridal and Chloe’s jumpsuit was from John Lewis. We also had our fur babies painted on to our shoes so they could be part of the big day too!
Our big day incorporated a lot of DIY and personal touches, to make it even more special and meaningful for our guests. I personally loved our personalised newspaper and the individual poems that we wrote for everyone! We made everything ourselves and had the best time doing it.
We also had a lot of help from Chloe’s sister and my nan who made our delicious wedding cake and desserts, which our guests absolutely LOVED!
Did you incorporate any other personal touches for your big day?
Oh gosh! So many! We booked a fabulous Ed Sheeran tribute to sing for our first dance. The song ‘Perfect’ holds so many amazing memories for us. We joked that it would be amazing if Ed Sheeran himself sung it for us, so… we got the next best thing! (it still makes us smile when we think about it).
Another really unusual touch was our tattoo wedding favours… we had a mobile tattoo artist set up in The Snug offering tattoos from a special set of wedding flash designs. We decided to book because Chloe wasn’t sure she would wear a ring, but still wanted something special to mark the occasion. When we found Alice who did the tattoos, we knew what a great addition to the day she would be. Our family and friends had so much fun with this.
Our singer Melanie Sings, was such a fluke (but amazing!) addition to our list of wedding suppliers. We met her at a local wedding fair, fell in love with her voice immediately, and simply had to book! My love of musical theatre was woven into the day perfectly, with the song Helpless from Hamilton sung as we walked away after the ceremony.
All of our wedding suppliers on the day were absolutely fantastic, a real dream team. Our photographer Libby Christensen captured our wedding PERFECTLY! It was like having a best friend with you all day making sure you got all the best photos. She went above and beyond.
What was your favourite moment of the wedding?
We have so many amazing memories but the one that really stands out is, our singer Melanie and Watermouth Cove staff organising a special intimate performance for just the two of us, before we went in for our meal. It honestly felt like something from a RomCom movie, and very emotional.
In the evening the legendary ‘Bar Babes’ at Watermouth joined in and got tattoos… and then joined us on the dance floor to bust some moves, we love you guys!
Top tips for getting married at Watermouth?
Trust the staff, relax and enjoy every minute of it. If you are on the fence about booking Watermouth Cove, JUST BOOK IT! It will be the best decision you ever make. The views are breathtaking, but the staff are the real heart of this venue. We felt so cared for and nothing was ever too much. We will be forever grateful for the amazing memories they help make.
