We love a sunny summer wedding here at Watermouth, and Paul and Sian’s wedding really encapsulated the relaxed destination venue vibe our couples love. Set over a three night midweek break their celebration bought family and friends together for a fantastic festival themed break, making memories that they will cherish for years to come.
Take us right back to the beginning… where did you two meet?
We are both from Bristol and we originally met as Royal Marine Cadet adult volunteers. Family and friends are hugely important to us both, and we really wanted a wedding that allowed us to really spend quality time with everyone we love.
What was your wedding vibe?
We opted for a chilled beach festival, incorporating the colours of the sea. Paul chose the colour of the groomsman’s suits (pale blue), and Sian choose a contrasting navy blue for the Bride Tribe. Sian looked every inch the perfect bride in a stunning Justin Alexander wedding dress, which she then customised herself for a personal touch.
Paul looked stylish in a smart fitted white jacket for the ceremony. As a surprise twist for the bride and guests, he secretly changed after the ceremony into a suave black jacket… our first groom this year to undertake a lightning fast outfit change!
What made you choose Watermouth as your wedding venue?
The location and facilities are amazing, it ticked all of the boxes. Accommodation was included in our package, which enabled us to have our closest family and friends stay with us, some stayed in the fantastic onsite apartments and lodges, and other friends camped at the venue.
As the wedding party was over a midweek break we prepared a fun itinerary for all three days, which covered many of our favourite things. We had a Pizza and Pool Party on arrival night, which gave us a brilliant opportunity to greet our guests before the big day – the swimming pool was a big hit with the guests too!
The next morning we had a reviving morning sea swim before the wedding festivities started, and the final day a relaxed family BBQ was the perfect backdrop to have a debrief about the wedding day shenanigans!
Did you include any special family traditions in your big day?
We had an absent friends table, to remember the family members who are no longer with us. We also sent afternoon tea to relatives who couldn’t make it trip, so they were a part of our celebration too. It was all about bringing family and friends together.
Can you run us through the order of your day?
It was an early start for Sian and the girls in The Glam Room, getting ready for the ceremony and sharing the beautiful setting with her closest family and friends. The Bride Tribe were amazing – their skills included sewing a bridesmaid into a dress on the morning of the wedding – all with a calm and chilled approach!
Our vows took place at The Viewpoint, my absolute favourite moment of the day was seeing Sian for the first time in her dress walking towards me along the Aisle – pure magic!
Singing sensation Samantha Harvey sang us down the aisle, and then performed on the terrace after the ceremony – she was incredible!
After our welcome drinks and canapes, we made our way to the beach for photos and beach games. Late in the afternoon we adjourned to The Stonehouse for our scrumptious wedding breakfast, followed by a romantic first dance on the terrace and dancing late into the night with DJ Sammy.
Sian, do you have any top tips for getting married at Watermouth?
Have a good selection of activities planned, and spread your events out to allow you to spend time plenty of time with everyone. Our photographer for the day was Grace Elizabeth, whom we highly recommend…not only did she put us at ease, she was also a lucky charm with the weather!
Paul, any final words to sum up your wedding?
My wife and I, (ha ha, that doesn’t get old) would like to express our heartfelt thanks for all of your help and the beautiful venue you provided for our special weekend. Your attention to detail, support, and dedication truly made a difference, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting to celebrate such an important moment in our lives.
From the planning process to the actual day, everything ran smoothly, thank you for the care you put into making our wedding unforgettable. The Watermouth Cove team played such a big role in making our big day so magical. We will always cherish the memories we created in your beautiful venue.
